Cities all over the world are shallow, empty and hollow places to live. The larger the building and the more the people, the bigger the void in humanity. City people in general are also shallow, empty and hollow, without basic human values.|
This is the great tragedy of modern society in China. The country people flooding into the city to get jobs. The city, the place where it all happens! City people look down on them as backwards, but what they don't understand is that these country people have roots and basic values that the shallow empty new-car-and-latest-mobile-phone city people will never understand. And when there is no country people left to give society these roots, when China is just one big city, China's roots and values will be completely lost, replaced by a shallow, empty void, prostitution, street gangs and pollution.
Here's my definition of a city. The city is made up of 1% of the population who are living the good life, they are in the game, they have the connections, they have their lives happening. The rest of the city (the endless hollow and shallow suburbs) is made up of the 99% of the population TRYING TO BE LIKE THE 1% for their entire lives but will never quite get there.
Here's the difference between the east and the west. In the west, a lot of city people are actually realising this now and moving to the country. But China is nowhere near that stage in their development, and wont be for at least 50 years minimum, if not 100 years. Right now it's all just madly flocking to the cities and developing the cities so we can all be that 99% of the population who forever dreams of being that elite 1% who will never give up their positions in society.
