Could it be that Mssr. Sarkozy's ultimatum to the Chinese to talk with the D.L., followed by the unedifying attack on the Chinese disabled athlete carrying the Olympic torch in Paris, resulted in escalating tensions?

Mssr. Sarkozy is on a steep learning curve.

Well, this is kind of the MO on this board: the Chinese pick some area they think is similar only to be told that it really isn't. In general, it seems that most Chinese, at least here, are simply unaware of the huge difference between how their country does things and how other countries do things. The amount they tend to equivocate demonstrates that clearly.
