Wan,

No, the Babylonians spoke Akkadian and the Egyptians spoke Egyptian, which lives on through Coptic liturgy. Of course, using language is quite a poor way of establishing cultural continuity. Italy's culture is continuous with Rome but no one speaks Latin as a living language. For Akkadian, it was gradually supplanted by Aramaic, which came to dominate the region and then its cousin Arabic, which came to be the standard language throughout most of the Muslim world.

Seriously, though, the idea of such discontinuities is part of the 19th century way of thinking which developed out of an incomplete historical and archaeological record. As that record has been uncovered, the discontinuities thesis has become less prevalent. Hence, formerly, historians would date the fall of the Roman Empire to the fourth century CE whereas now you can make a plausible claim that it did not end until 1453 CE when the Turks finally took Constantinople.

You mean nationalistically, vitriolically and arrogantly? As if the rest of the world had never heard the same, strained, tired Chinese monologues?

Oh i didn't expect our debate expert Interesting is a historian
As far as i know, the only ancient great human civilizations that survive is China. the theory of discontinuity is just less pervalent as you said, you need to negate it regards Babylon, Egypt and Ancient India.

What's wrong with monologue?Do we need to communicate with people who report distorted and biased news against our country? It simply does NOT work!

Wan,

Actually, India is continuous starting with the Indus Valley Civilization, at least. The West is continuous with the Aegean cultural complex, it seems and at least with the Archaic period of Greece. Japan is distinct and continuous for thousands of years. So is Jewish culture.

The idea that China is the only continuous civilization is really... well... wrong. I assume it's just Chinese cultural chauvinism, there seems to be quite a lot of it around.

You don't communicate because you have nothing new to say, ever, and everything you've said has been thoroughly refuted many times over. Most Chinese don't even have access to their full history because ideology takes precedence.

Hmm, you're too proud of yourself.

For most of human history, China was the wealthiest, socially most tranquil, scientifically most advanced and arguably the best governed society on the planet. It is determined eventually to restore itself to these heights.

As a Native American, I am offended to be called "Red" anything. Would you like me to start calling Chinese yellow?

Dear Northwest, that pony is not proud of him at all.  He has very very deep race inferiority complex inward.  Read what he said.  And note, he means to make a play of words to call us Chinese yellow. You know well enough too, we Chinese with yellow skin are not yellow but brave. Yellow means cowardly in English slang. As a native English speaker, he means to insult us.  So disgusting... Request him to apologise!!
