Thanks, zglobal.

not only did they stay in five-star hotels in Beijing and Shanghai, they have also come to China with color-glasses,  and stereotyped brain-frames.

no wonder that may west ...

I was reading Polish web press today and openly speaking ...it is biased. Not much, not extreme, but it contained some formulas, which are of the weigh needed to bring something more than words. For example there was something like ( I am translating from my memory)  " Chinese police opened fire against pro- independence Tibetan protests." Nothing else. A lot to be left for imagination and if I cannot guess what were all details of the events there, after so many years spent in China, what a Pole, who has never been to East Asia can imagine?  Probably he would use his imagination based on similar events known from Poland's past and may add some scenes from 1988+1 of China. This turns the wheels of the machine recruiting next protesters-without-knowledge. Poles have specific history and national culture, much different from Chinese, as we were through 1000 years on the other side of the typical empires vs neighbours relations. Hence, maybe I noticed that even such smart writer like Mark Wu failed to grasp a tiny bit of what is the feelings/view point being in Polish (or similar) shoes.

I have Chinese wife and many Chinese friends with whom we can talk usually without anger about different  and difficult matters seen from different prspectives. This doesn't change the basic standpoints , but importantly gives the chance to get the understanding of other then self-centric panoramas.
Understanding is the base of talking, talking is the base of doing, doing is the base of facts and facts are the base of trust, which is the base of peace.

thanks, andy.

Understanding is the base of talking, and trust is the base for peace.  Chinese people are not morons!  we are just like every other human tribe living on this globe.

However, due to years of  biased reporting, and poisonous profiling of China (such as China is communist state), and Chinese people, by the majority of Western journalism,  China is demonized.  Chinese people are sacrificed.

I say it again: CCP is just a name, it is just as clever and wise in its management of state affairs, as other governments in the world, if not better.   and, Chinese people are just as wise and intelligent as americans, british, aussies, canadians, russians, koreans, indians, Japanese,  if not more hard-working.

Chinadaily,
everyone in China seems to be hung up on this notion that all westerners think chinese people are running around in mao suits. I have heard this gripe so many times it is starting to make my ears bleed. NO ONE in the west thinks that. It's a bizarre and baseless inferiority complex. All western coverage is "rising China" this, "market capitalization" that.  We call the chinese government communist because it calls itself communist. its that simple. how would you like us to refer to the CCP? the "not-so communist party"? its just a label. when western journalists use the term it has no more ideological implications then when Chinese use it. Believe me, no one in the west thinks China is an ideologically communist country. I guarantee you 100% that if china's authoritative single-party government stopped calling itself the communist party, then foreign journalists would too. its a matter of semantics.

Whether we call it CCP or China's People's Party, or, China's Republican Party, or China's Democratic Party, is nothing substantive.   Boy, it is just a name.

notproud, you claimed that the term "communist"  has no more ideological implications, you have to ask millions of street folks in your country.   They dislike China, just because your press have bombarded them with China being  "communist".     [pls read post #11 ]
