This is stupid, who ever heard of a war without killing?  If Pr. H puts "his" men and I might add women in danger of attack by 100,000 wild ferocious enemy - then the British Empire would have 100,000 dead or captured enemy ill sic taken care of nice and neat.

Two points:

what kind of uncivilized country worships people who go to war? Britain should feel shame for invading another sovereign country.

The BBC has a responsbility to its viewers to tell them the truth. The British media's self-censorship consciously relegated the British public to second place. Can any of the viewers or readers now trust that the British media is not hiding anything else, however flimsy the media's justification may be? The wjole episode stinks of British propaganda. A documentary made only of Harry's time in Afghanistan is propaganda; Where's the documentary for each and every other soldier fighting - Don't they matter?

Hollywood Block Buster coming up .

broken_heart,

You are also undiplomatic and uncaring here . Emu , the colonial boy from down under , was quick to point out how brave and bold prince charming was . He was out there in the desert sands , among the camels and the sand storms , standing shoulder to shoulder with his fellowmen and fighting against all odds , for Queen ( his granny ) &  country :  the very theme of a Hollywood block buster coming up . So be respectful at least .

Speaking from a purely  military tactical view point of view , this charade was just an indulgence of a prince ( aka Pot Head by the British press once ) who would and could do the real " bang bang you are dead " thing in real life rather than on his video games console . Good luck to him because the bragging rights now is unparalleled .  His very presence in Afghanistan would have required a black out and muzzling of the press corp from reporting ( correct ) , assigned a battalion of armed guards to protect him ( must ) and to make available all the luxury and conveniences for a prince  ( he is not going to queue up at that open loo in the dust storm ! ).

I bet the top brass have had sleepless nights while he was there . Imagine " lost a prince " being an item on your CV when dishonorably discharged !  This is British humour and comic at its best .  It does warm the cockles of the colonial boy's heart too .

These "brass knew he wasn't in Iraq" so who didn't know he was in Afghanistan the US press didn't know.  It begs to say we want you(Prince Harry) where we put you not where we find you.  Why does the US press spend the money to pursue Harry.  Harry as you might have heard can make the news worth a lot more to the press correspondants and so it seems if he his a "hero" then they are rolling in their "glory" to say the least more loot from the prince's dear junior status "following in his Uncle's foot steps" to returning due to "the foreign press's oversight of this privacy."

I would not say he is a King yet as the impression I had of royalty is that they will stick out their chin and like his unce stay at his post but to see him being pampered may have more to do with the death of his Mother.

The main story on this comes from The Guardian, a British paper, and that was reproduced by CD.

In any case, it's not a propaganda stunt; male members of the royal family have served in the military for generations. He joined the military, he wanted to go, he went.
