the counterpart for GG is MM, which is short for mei 1 mei 1妹妹(younger sister)/美眉(beautiful girl), it is suitable for women at any ages
What's the term for younger brother (弟弟 or di4 di5)? DD?

We won't get into other Internet or chat abbreviations (886, 555—every time rovi says that, I find it funny, because he's so not serious).

Yes, you are right.

Here's some popular Chinese Internet chatting slangs as belows:

- GG:  = elder brother
- DD:  = younger brother
- JJ: = elder sister
- MM: =younger sisters
- XDJM: = elder brothers, younger brothers, elder sisters and younger sisters= all of you.  X =兄 (literal form for elder brother in Chinese)
-88 = bye bye  (because the Chinese pronounciation of 88( ba1, ba1) is similar to bye bye, it is kind of  pronounciation borrowing)

-886= bye bye now

Thanks, rainbow! You're always so nice!

Wow, I found a page full of them! (about 100), including:

587 I'm sorry!
768 Let's eat.
8006 Not paying attention to you any more
809 Bowling

Do any of those ring a bell (sound familiar)?

You're very welcome! I had no idea about the jargons what the numbers above contain. I think they are not well-known or not popular. I don't shoot the breeze as often as before except for BBS and maybe these are up-to-date .:)
