''啃椅'' means 'biting the chair'
''啃椅族'' describes those (especially young people) who would take a seat (chair) in KFC or Macdonald' reading a book or papers for quite a few hours while sipping a cup of drink. KFC and  Macdonald' are good places for 'reading' or 'resting'. You have good reasons to stay there as long as you want only if you buy a cup of drink which costs only  or 5 yuan. Then no one will ever intervene you, you have the music there, and people come and go,no one will ever pay attention to you, no one will ask you if you would order something, such private space! No one has anything to do with another. Unlike in a Chinese restaurant or other western restaurant where you can't have enough private space.

Such good place for reading, such fun!
