The article does not lack this "detail." What do you think "illegal prenatal sex selection" is?

The problem is common in East Asia and can be observed in e.g. South Korea, Taiwan, India, etc.

China has a feudal history of more than 2000 years,and ferdality which prefers boys has a long lasting influence on people's mind.Until now ,a large number of people still prefers boys because boys can carry on family names.

Your ignorance continue to astonish. If a Chinese family doesn't have a son the family name will disappear. A daughter will take her father's name and keep it for the rest of her life, but her children will not and the ancestral name will die out. Anyone who knows anything about China should know this.
