Ask your boss to give u something to do... Normally the boss would be happy to see that you can ask return if u feel nothing to do...

I would talk with my boss to have a better knowledge of myself from professional's eye,and then try to map out a clear career plan according to my boss's opinion.

And I agree with you, if you have nothing to do which means you are useless in the office, the boss will consider to fire you.
