Sorry xsleeper, but you're dead wrong.
"How would you suggest we read 178,345,320,432?
According to British standards it would be: One Hundred and seventy eight billion and three hundred and fourty five million and three hundred and twenty thousand and four hundred and thirty two? Of course, maybe they break their rules there when they realize how silly they sound"
According to British "standards" - which are, like American "standards" not standard at all, simply the way people talk - the above number would be:
One hundred and seventy eight billion, three hundred and forty five million, three hundred and twenty thousand, four hundred and thirty two.
As I said above, this is a _cultural preference_. There is no "right way" and no "wrong way".
If you use _either_ method you will be understood anywhere in the English speaking world.
And being understood, in any language, is the bottom line.
