Besides meaning crossing a line in a bad way, it can mean crossing a boundary between any two things. Like.... he crossed the line between business and pleasure.

Actually I don't think it's used quite right in that case.
"But for me, this crossed the line." -- I think he's talking about a different incident, which is the subject of this interview or discussion. Although he had acted a bit excessive before, he does not think those earlier incidents were that serious. But this time, he believes it was morally wrong.
