How do you think about this: Asian cartoons compared with western cartoons?

South Park, Simpsons, Tintin...etc.

vs

One Piece, Death Note, Appleseed...etc.

I think western cartoons are incomparable to Asian cartoons.

They are not comparable. No one is inferior to the other. Western cartoons are focus on heroic stories and prefer muscular men. Asian cartoons pay more attention on details. Asian readers favor beautiful boys and girls with big eyes. When I was young, I liked to read cartoon books concerning love stories. Those boys in books were my ideal bf. People are not forced to accept the other side's cartoons. Every different opinions are caused by cultural difference.
I am a Beijing girl.

i dont know about that

do you have cartoon network via satelite? :) i do

some of the new stuff is really cool, witty, and innovative minus the stereotypical captain america image

cool, witty, and innovative by the way is a department that chinese animators lack

Mickey Mouse and Pokemon are for small kids and kids don't discriminate cartoons. They'd enjoy Huluwang - a Chinese made animation - all the same.

But when it comes to demanding viewers, the quality of the animations and its story takes into account. And it seems to me, not many people in this region likes Tintin or The Simpsons.

80% of chinese children prefer foreign cartoons

my advice to the chinese animators...

make it fun - dont make it so educational or political

well written script - original ideas

if you dont have a clue, go overseas and see how they do it

wait. take that back. dont go.

you just might not want to come back
