asking too much

yeah, sounds like blackmail, no wonder the local government and the developer do not want to feed her.

What is the latest news?

Blackmail?
Prima donna?

This is not a public development to aid the people, this is a commercial development that will line the pockets of the developer.
Either private property is respected and protected or it is not.

I think what she was doing is great! In China,we have so many cases that the developers and local governments treated the relocated householders so much, and ignored their rights!

Blackmailer or homeowner?

Growth at what cost?
Ordinary people swept aside for high priced condos?
Most of the public disturbances over the last number of years were over situatutions like this.
In fact, this is where many claims of corruption have centered.
Alleged collusion between developers and government.

From what I understand the vast majority of Chinese opinion supported this homeowner. (until discussion was squelched) As an aside I appreciate the opportunity to discuss this here on the China Daily forum especially since three other threads were locked.

So, you claim blackmail?
I haven't seen this claim proven.
Someone mentioned 150,000 but where did this figure come from?
And an offer of 12,000?
Is this an accurate figure?
What has she asked for?
What would the homeowner have to pay it get a new place in the same area?

This story seems to have left reality and moved to the symbolic.
The big guy versus the little guy.
What is the truth?
Why did the other homeowners move out?
Did they think they were fairly compensated?

And another question: Why did the government(if it is true) move to stop discussion on this topic?
