I find the average human...

... will care about the immediate world around them, and nothing more.  No offense, but most people have to worry about their next meal, not the distance neighbor.

Did you ever think...

That maybe you Chinese have NOTHING to be proud of.

Honestly, other than tasty food and hot women, what do you have to offer to the world?

You haven't offered anything to the world in over a thousand years. The compass, paper and gun powder/explosives were all invented by accident and then perfected by Persians, Arabs and even Mongols. LOL!

Sad Truth

Unfortunately, I find something true in every reply so far on this subject. A large percentage of Americans travel abroad only 3 or 4 times during their life. Most travel to Europe, Mexico and the Carribean for an average stay of 7-14 days (Travel Packages). Almost all other vacations are taken to US destinations of which their are hundreds.

The majority of trips to Asia, Far East, Africa, Australia are made for business purposes. The exceptions of course are exchange studies, branch transfers and new business ventures. It has been suggested oddly enough the reason for this is "Time". It simply takes too long to get to these destinations within a 7-14 day period vacation. Naturally there are the exceptions for tourist visits from america.

From the students I have spoken with "going to China for studies", is not even a consideration, "Main Reason"  is a fear of learning a different language and applying it to their degree area at the same time. Most american students view a student exchange program as an opportunity to vacation in a foreign land and place the school of attendance on their resume after graduation (it sounds exotic to them).

Conversly the foreign students attending american schools take the opportunity to "STUDY" not vacation. That a one reason they excel and are amongst the highest grade levels in classes.

Overall the american student has little knowledge of geography or other cultures except what is on TV.
