We know enough about economics to say with confidence that China does not follow the strict definition of Communism to be labeled as a 'Communist' nation.

China has developed its own brand of Socialism sprinkled with grass-roots Capitalism.

i'd consider it more than grass-roots, it's practically a religion

How do American students view China? They could care less about Chinese-Americans or even Neighboring Canada (thanks in part with the lack of exposure of them in America) so why would they dig further to the Far East?

While most Chinese students are hell-bent on Western Culture (mainly American), American students only know to some extent about China as:Kung-Fu, Chinese food, Yao Ming, Communist and Lucy Liu (who is a hyphenated American). That being said, what I really don't understand is why China has become so obssessed with English that they would use English songs at the end of their National Awards  Ceremony along with when the Chinese Basketball Association won the championship (We Are The Champions last time I checked was not a Chinese song) Mind you, China is constantly trying to preserve its culture but it seems the media itself is steering the youth to the wrong direction giving them a perception that everything West is well 'better'.  What's most insulting is now in Beijing there are more signs in English than even in Chinese...catering people for the Olympics is one thing, but that is a bit overdoing it.

There I just had to say it.

obviously, they view it as an underdeveloped country.......they don't even care about that. what they care is their own country, how to make it beetter.or their own stuff, even think how the public affairs have got any connection with me.

How can we let them know us more ??

After reading the passage ,we strill have large bridge between us and the outside world^
But think  that how can we let the world konw us more ^^
why we know far more about US than the American  know us?
That is just the problem ,they sucesss.and we want  to know more about them by outselves.
Maybe they know Jackie Chan ,Jet  Li ,Bruce Lee,Yao Ming ,Liu Xiang and so on >>>>>>>
but we have the largest population of the world ,and they just know a little>>>>>>
maybe we have to let them know ourselves first and then our country>>>
