What a nice picture! See, it went well, didn't it? I've met quite a few people from online, and although it may be weird at first, you soon see that it's no different from meeting them in other ways. Everyone is human, they're not an alien. They may be better than you expected, or worse.

But for anyone who hasn't done it, I'd say just don't have any expectations. The person will never be exactly as you imagine, not even if you've seen 20 pics and emailed for a year. Something about them will be different than you imagined, they will sudenly be 'real' and a little different.

I think meeting people from online is perfectly fine, as someone implied - how is it worse than meeting someone in a bar or even at a supermarket or library or concert? People you meet in 'real life' can be liars or fakes too. People are either liars or not, regardless of being online. And really, I think most people aren't, for the most part.
I am not rich.  :L
