I know in China if you stand up for your rights or try to correct someone who is wrong they label you as a trouble maker.

I am lucky to have an ugly mean looking face. They usually don't do that to me but it happens from time to time.

Sometimes if I have time, I step back and say "Don't let me stop you from pushing ahead of me". Then I back theline up and make the line crasher look like a jerk. I was a cashier for a while and I would make them wait their turn. Never got into trouble for it.

Some sales people are great

they notice who has jumped the queue and ignore them

they just serve the next honest person in the queue not the jumpers

I've been noticing this more often as well.

Tour guides

Another mass Q-jump occurs at airports

when a tour guide off a flight arriving after mine (with flag held high)

leads 100 tourists to the front of the immigration queue

they do it just when (after 30 minutes) my flight has almost completely cleared and I am next to go through

Another strategy

Pretend you are going to the front of the queue to read something at the till

then when the till becomes free, jump in front of the next in line

I will call that one

the Myopic
