LZ的疑问可以理解,关键是这句话,在什么场合能用的上。是在别人说你有经验时,你用此话来自嘲吗?或反过来用来嘲笑别人吗?还是什么别的?

直译是:虽然通过经验学,代价很大,但愚人只能通过这个方法来学。(吃一堑,长一智)A fall into a pit, a gain in your wit.
也就是:愚蠢的人必须事事经历才能学会,而聪明的人会汲取他人经验。
