Taiwan scumbag president Abien's whole family have been profiteers of his administration. His daughter flew on the airforce one from Taipei to Tainan for her wedding, paid for by the people's hard-earned tax money. His crippled wife has built up wealth worth well over 2 million us dollars over his presidency. Now, his son in-law is involved in an insider trading scandal in which he profitted as much as 2.5 millions us dollars. The situation is so serious now that even the DPP has asked Abien to clarify.

The so-called first family have stolen millions of dollars from the island's hardworking people, turning a blind eye to the island's budget deficit. Taiwanese people will find themselves in deep SHlT by the time Abien's presidency is over.

Abien's next move to cover-up his family scandals and to divert people's attention would be to do something to piss off China. He could do the following:
1. Amend the consitution
2. Push the legislative yuan to buy arms from alternative sources, such as UAE

Political scandals in Taiwan tend to fade away, given that a bigger, more urgent event occurs. I think this will be the case here. Allegations on the first family will gradually be forgotten as Abien is once again able to stir up cross-straight tension to cover up his own mess.

Corruption is the Hallmark of "Democracy"

Corruption is indeed what Western styled "Democracy" is all about.  Ah Bian is just too green to hide it well.  He is going all out because he knows that he and his party will be gone in a couple of years, so in his hurry to become the multi-millionaire before his power expires, he is too rushed to hide his tracks.

Note that this insider trading  netted his retired teacher inlaw (mother of his son in law) 74,000,000 NT in just about a year.   This someone who never traded big blocks before who plunked down money that did not belong to her - ALL the money for buying the 10,000,000 NT of shares, 510,000 shares to be exact,  was provided by banks, with just the stocks as collateral - it is the kind of sweet deals that are emblematic in ALL Western democracies - that's why all the national level pols in America all retire filthy rich. 640% gain in a little over a year on money that came from banks.  If that happened in China, it would buy a deferred death penalty.  In Taiwan, it is par for the course.  Note that this woman was NOT the only one in on the deal.  There were two other "green" politicians who also got the same shares (smaller amounts).  When thugs get paid, they do pay their cohorts - that's how democracy works.

Our little Ah Bian ? Never.

If what you gentlemen have said here is true ( I have not read these juicy items ) I can only say in his defence " Never ". Our Ah Bian could not possibly stoop so low as to behave as if the public coffers are for his, and his family's, usage at will. I do not believe that he who has been spruiking the world' s stage about the virtues of democarcy, justice, fairplay and liberty, can possibly be so low as to enrich himself with such seedy behaviour. How is the Taiwanese governmental clique going to hold their heads high on the international stage and preach the gospel of altruism without laughing themselves ? I am shocked and awed, I truely am.

Where are the apologists please ? Where is Guan Kim when one needs him? Come forth and defend the realm, sir. Let no man be allowed to demean and demonise this truely noble regime abiding by all principles of democracy , sweetness and light, to be so ridiculed without rebuttal. Sir Lau will defend us. He will expose the conspiracy and the mean streaked nasty people who would tarnish that good and shiny name of the democratic Republic of China. Be gone with these detractors, be gone now.

Abien's days are numbered

Abien is a moron! In the Lee TungHui era, KMT was almighty... corrupt Lee was able to cook the book and then burn all the traces or garner enough leverage to shut people up. Today's Abien is weak, isolated both on the international stage and at home. The people hate him so every member of his "first family" is closely watched by the media. After all, this unprecedented freedom of the press which Taiwan has is the result of DPP's work.

Taiwan's Takshin.

Just watch the man perform. He is steadily ciphoning fabulous riches from Taiwan into a couple of Swiss banks, an off shore investment institution in the Caribbean and the rest in a Yank bank. There will be no shortage of Americans from the top end of town to help him settle, and then to help him spend his ill gotten gain later. Daper Bian will fly out as soon as he loses the next election and set up shop in YankeeLand to enjoy a life of luxury for the rest of his life. So much for the sermon from the mount of democracy, liberty and justice. Taiwanese don't ever say I did not warn you.
