I as a Chinese have full faith and confidence in the Chinese people's ability to discern what is eternal and what is temporal.  Chinese have never been slaves of money, even when China was the richest nation in the world (which was about 90% of the last 5,000 years).  Chinese culture was (not is, but we are fighting our way back) once the envy of the world.  Soul  was not even discussed because it was assumed.

There is nothing wrong with money.  Everyone needs a certain amount of money to get a degree of freedom.  It would be a pity if we get stuck in imported thinking and insist that being poor is glorious - that is so contrary to 5,000 years of Chinese thinking, which believes in working hard and enjoying the fruits of success.

There is Capitalism....

...and there is Communism.

It must be strange indeed for the older Chinese that live in China today. I am wondering if anyone over 55
years old is on the Forum here and what are your thoughts on this change.

In the old days....

The youth just love is quick and exciting...has it up and its downs...and the young people
push the economy along. Without the youth China is not a mover and a shaker.
