Otis, don't feel you have to keep it to yourself either... this is how I feel:|
When I was little I shared a room with my grandmother. Every night I fell asleep to the news, because that's what she watched at 10pm. As a child, every night I heard of a murder, or kidnapping, or rape, or fire, or war. By the time I was a teenager I was very aware of all the horrible stuff, and I tried to help in small ways, and learned more about the environment, etc... When I went back to college I started going for an environmental science degree (switched later when I realized I wouldn't make the kind of difference I imagined and would be coerced into taking bribes, etc).
Anyway, now I can't stand to watch the news. I feel like I KNOW all this stuff is happening, I dont' want to be reminded of it every day. I need to take care of my son and me first, and I do what I can in my life to help out (I recycle, I try not to buy useless junk or be wasteful, etc). My jobs are all of the "helping" type. I occasionally sign a petition when it comes my way, etc. I can't afford to donate money to anyone (maybe a small amount on rare occasion)
So.... we do what we can. If you find yourself getting angry, find something to do about it. I don't mean that in a condescending way, I'm serious, it feels good to do a little something now & then if we can.
