With the end of World War II Taiwan was handed over to the control of mainland China.
Legally, most nations - and the UN - acknowledge the position of the Chinese government that Taiwan is a province of China, and as a result Taiwan has formal diplomatic relations with only 25 countries and no seat at the UN

To unify taiwan with mailand is not easy, particularly political dispute. Taiwanese like democracy,freedom and multi- party management, but mainland can't do these at the moment, another reason is the difference of living standard, so if we want to taiwanese come back to mailand, we have lots of things to do. Of course, preventing taiwan independence is the most important thing at present stage.
