Well according to the latest edition of the Economist, Taiwan's economy is growing at 4.4%. A long way off China's but then again it is more developed than the mainland already. Plus it's still good growth.

The better question is how much WOULD Taiwan benefit from joining the mainland. I think that's something impossible to predict.

Sometimes, the best decisions are not to gain something better, but to avoid something worse.  That may be a decision that Taiwan will need to face eventually as economic attrition takes its course.

Samsung and LG are great examples and Korea should be very proud.  This is something that China can learn in terms of creating high quality products, with a great reputation.

Do not be afraid of this stat....

"That more than 40% of Taiwan's production lines have been moved to China".

Look at America where we moved our production lines oversea's. As a business man, this makes good
sense. As long as Taiwan can keep control...who care who makes it.

Now that Taiwan has someone else doing the "busy work" let Taiwan take this opportunity to try something
else that will make money.:)

but Taiwan culture is such....

..it cannot control..

afterall, the market is in Europe, China, Far East and only 15% is in USA and 10% the rest of the world....(please refer to the WTO world trade figures!)

Now, the "busy work" is being done...what will Taiwan do without a Consumer super center....

migrate to China, USA, British Club and Central America...

Ah! Upgrade the technology...yes yes...

...there is alway's a "way out"....

What is Taiwan going to do with its "unemployed assembly" ladies....

...what is Taiwan going to do..if China "stops buying" from Taiwan....

Yup, Taiwan is suffering.

Time to migrate to Central America.
