The "hide" of an animal is its skin.  Like leather is the skin or hide of cows.

A rhinoceros is an animal found in Africa.  Look at the following link and it will show you a picture.

The hide of a rhinoceros (rhino for short) is very, very tough.  The rhino is unpredictable and nearly as likely to charge as to run away when disturbed. When charging, it puffs and snorts like a steam engine, running with its tail erect at speeds of up to 30 miles per hour. The animal, while a vegetarian, is known for its ill temper.
