a sports drink would pump the jingle, "I Want to Get to the Rim like Tim!"--- what does it mean, esp Rim --Tim?

Possibly has to do with Tim Horton's Roll-up-the-Rim-to-Win promotion.

When their promotion is on, every coffee you buy could be a chance to win. You roll up the RIM of the paper cup after you empty it. Most will say something like "lay again.", meaning you win nothing. Some will win you a donut. The "jackpot", according to the ad, could be a jeep or something big.

I suspect this sports drink you mention is doing something similar to this.

BTW, Tim Horton's is a Canadian franchise coffee shop. Their coffee, what is intimately called "Timmy", is very good.

Just a guess.

Aha, my guess was waaaay off the mark ...

So the Tim is Tim Duncan. And the rim is the basketball rim.

The drink will make you as good as Tim to easily reach the rim like Tim!

If only we believe it!

Once again it shows the  importance of context.
