This sentense

occurred to me when I was reading an article from another forum in CD which was written in ancient English.  I could not think of the English version of this sentense, that was why I asked.

Now the context has been given, what do you think it should be?

(Or anyone could correct this post for me?  I feel some of the expressions I used here are quite awkward.)

The colloquial way to put it is "It's hard on my eyes."
