Peter Navarro, a second rate economist, who is a Trump adviser only because he is sycophantic and is as mean, dishonest and unscrupulous as his patron, is an right wing extremist, bent on a campaign of propaganda against the Chinese people. He ran unsuccessfully for political office five times, since 1992. In six of his books, Navarro fooled readers with obsessive arguments against China and the Chinese people when he quoted Ron Vara, a former Harvard PhD student in economics to say misleading and crass Sinophobic things. The problem is that no real person in the world by the name of "Ron Vara" exists.|
Navarro came into the limelight recently when the media revealed that in late February, he had warned Trump two million Americans would die in a coming epidemic originating in China, after saying in January that half a million would perish. He was not only merely parroting what some American officials had already been telling Trump, his estimate was wildly exaggerated and actually wide off the mark since American coronavirus deaths as of today is 50,000. (Not that 50,000 is a small number.)
Navarro recently has also been chosen to coordinate supplies of vital medical equipment – a role he appears to share with Kushner and maybe a three-star Navy admiral – while pushing to force manufacturing of such equipment in the U.S.
If American deaths were eventually to reach one hundred thousand (not to mention the two million he claimed), it would be because Trump has ludicrously put American lives in Navarro's incompetent hands.
