When the H1N1 virus struck in America in 2009, it took the US about 6 months to come to grips and this allowed the spread of the virus throughout the world. The world took a resolve to deal with the crisis and there was no blame game against the Americans. I also cannot recall any such blaming against any other countries such as Africa (Ebola and Zika) or the Middle East (MERS-CoV).

This time round, in the case of COVID-19, Chinese and anyone who looks like Chinese are assaulted verbally and physically around the world. That's because this phenomena has been nurtured by the anti-China media and the US government for years, including the anti-China netizens through messenger apps and forums. They spread hatred and xenophobia against China and, unfortunately, this seems to be working. Therefore, the assaults happen. The ugly side of human nature thrives.

The COVID-19 virus may one day be curbed but the stench of xenophobia and hatred will linger on for a long time in the anti-China media and virtual aerosol.

IT IS SO DAMN FRIGHTENING TO LIVE IN THE USA WITH SUCH NEO-NAZI MENTALITY COMMUNITY. How did such mentality surface so blatantly now on covid-19 ? Guess it is because very nasty and evil politicians in the USA are stirring up such shits of anti-Chinese and anti-non whites sensations.  When and if the USA falls to pieces, who will be blamed ?

Federal law enforcement document reveals white supremacists discussed using coronavirus as a bioweapon.  Hunter Walker and Jana Winter NewsMarch 22, 2020 .

WASHINGTON — White supremacists discussed plans to weaponize coronavirus via “saliva,” a “spray bottle” or “laced items,” according to a weekly intelligence brief distributed by a federal law enforcement division on Feb. 17.

Federal investigators appeared to be monitoring the white nationalists’ communications on Telegram, an encrypted messaging app that has become popular with neo-Nazis. In the conversations, the white supremacists suggested targeting law enforcement agents and “nonwhite” people with attacks designed to infect them with the coronavirus.

The intelligence brief, marked for official use only, noted the white supremacists “suggested targeting … law enforcement and minority communities, with some mention of public places in general.” According to the document, the extremists discussed a number of methods for coronavirus attacks, such spending time in public with perceived enemies, leaving “saliva on door handles” at local FBI offices, spitting on elevator buttons and spreading coronavirus germs in “nonwhite neighborhoods.”

U.S. intelligence agencies were issuing ominous, classified warnings in January and February about the global danger posed by the coronavirus while President Trump and lawmakers played down the threat and failed to take action that might have slowed the spread of the pathogen, according to U.S. officials familiar with spy agency reporting.

As you have said that no pandemic bursts have been connected to certain specific region or country, but this time is an exception. In my opinion, this unacceptable situation is derived from the following historical reasons.
First, the west media, especially those from the countries of five eye alliance, consistently slant the reports about China and Chinese for years. Immersed with these news, a small but significant number of west people are totally unacquainted with real China and Chinese.
Second, under current tough time, ordinary people,  who have experienced what they have considered unfairness, would find China and Chinese to be a good punching bag as their government did.

Anyway, problems are always solved. As a Chinese, we should first protect ourselves and our families according to the local law. Maybe, the best way is stay at home and reduce the chance of face-to-face contact.

Hope China and all Chinese go through this hard time and improve ourselves and our country.

Don't worry about the rest of the world, so long as China is ok then you are ok.

This crisis brings to light many other countries' malmanagement of their health and crisis responding systems, which the authorities there have been at pains to keep under wraps, particularly the US and its little brothers...
Believe it or not, it's true.
