Along with shopping for dorm essentials and writing tuition checks, parents and their college-bound kids face another money question this summer: Should parents provide an allowance to their college students and how much aloowance to give their college kids?

Recently, a girl's complaint about her mother not giving enough living alowances to here has sparked a heated discussion. The average monthly living cost of university kids in China range from 1500-2000 RMB. Her mother left her 2000 RMB and she was not satisfied with it.

Some netizens agree with the girl that they think university students need to enjoy his college years. He has the rest of his life to work hard for things. They need time and money to invest in themselves. Others think that its' important to cultivate the student some independence in managing a budget. Giving enough allowances can be infantilizing for the students.

What do you think about that?
