(Global Times) When it comes to improper behavior on the subway, Beijing has had enough. City officials announced plans to crackdown on passengers who use extra seats or eat food, using China's new social credit system.

The Beijing Municipal Commission of Transportation (BMCT) released revisions on its code of conduct for subway passengers Thursday, proposing that "uncivilized" behavior would be added to individual credit information.

China has developed an extensive social credit system, aimed at punishing those with bad credit scores by limiting their travel or publicly shaming them. People with bad social credit scores could be prohibited from flying or traveling on a high-speed train.

The proposed BMCT revisions include new passenger rules to the list of "uncivilized behavior." Using extra seats, eating, and promoting and conducting sales transactions will be added to the list.

The revisions have not been finalized. The BMCT will seek public opinion on the proposed regulations through May 11.

The move follows recent debates about bad behaviors on public transportation after videos of passengers engaging in such behavior were posted online.

This is a simple problem! A big fine will solve all this kind of problems!
Anyone will feel painful to see money paid as fine!
The same money could be used for food or anything wisely!
Waste no time with these commuters. They do not know that the food they left behind will breed pests!

SHAME AND DISGRACE!

Have my full support!  Please add on to the list not just eating on subway trains but all the anti social behavior like spitting, littering, smoking in public, failing to give way to pedestrians at zebra crossings, driving through red lights and against the flow of traffic etc etc.  And extend that to all cities in China, includng southern cities like Guangzhou and Shenzhen where anti social behavior is prevalent!

In the beginning, it should go hand-in-hand with education on social ethics. Once society has been educated, this should not be necessary or should just play a minor part in the future. The best way, and more effective, is to have a society that can self censor such behaviour.

Education does not work on the many anti-soical elements in China;  if it can work, there won't be so many instances of uncivilised behavior because there had been many education programs before, and they are still onging! Only harsh penalties and strict enforcement of the law will work!
