Premier Li Keqiang Thursday called on the vocational education sector to train more talent in order to aid the country's development.

In an instruction to a national meeting on vocational education reform, Li said this year China planned to increase the number of students engaged in vocational education by a million.

"Vocational education should try to cater to the demands of the high-end manufacturing and service sectors as well as those the market needs the most," he said.

Vice Premier Sun Chunlan attended and addressed the meeting, where she vowed to implement Li's instructions and push forward reforms in the sector.

Sun urged local governments to improve the training of teachers in vocational schools, update teaching materials and methods, and support cooperation between schools and enterprises.

"The government will encourage enterprises and the private sector to engage in vocational education."

Yes, you are correct!
German trained engineers are excellent! They could think and analyze at the same time for simple easy solution. Most Asian trained engineers are good at talking theoretical stuff but not in applying their knowledge in practice.
This is the main reason the west leads and will still does so in engineering!

China must inculcate the need to be able to apply knowledge learnt and not telling others to perform according to instructions, especially their engineers!

Chinese tend to like the engineer who is clean in apparel just telling others to perform. This is definitely not going to help and encourage them to study engineering.

China needs more technical institutes to train future workers in manufacturing, technology and service industries. These technical institutes should partner with industrial companies to give Chinese high-school graduates vocational training so they can start working in various technical jobs while learning from their work experience. Universities are too theoretical in their academic education which are too impractical to be useful to industrial companies.
