Human rights is about much more than right to life or safety.

Prevalence of crime in a society is a ...
Quoting these failures of US in matters irrelevant to human rights only showcases the desperation of Chinese government.

The Chinese government is pursuing a practical and careful approach to human rights. That does not mean the government is desperate--just that the methodology is different. It is also work-in-progress. This approach is different from the general western approach where ideology is more important than practicality. There is no perfect method. What we are seeing right now is that the western world in general wants to impose their own version of "human rights" on others who are different. Do they care whether it works? NO! Many developing countries and societies that copy the western model are still languishing in poverty and still unable to progress economically. What is the point of having all the rights and yet die of hunger?

US does this all the time!

Difference is people forget too quickly!

Today, US inflicts the pain! No one knows! Unfortunately, all eyes are on China and Russia!

Strange! Citizens in China and Russia are never grateful to their own government!

US should ship them in US, give them all the best, then send them back to rebel to win!

OLD DIRTY TRICKS!

US is myopic. Its scales for measurement do deform due to one reason or another especially from human interferrence, which is inevitable.

It was said that to cut its warning temperature readings, US Congress is studying to change it from Fahrenheit to Celsius because it is easier to use from zero to hundred only. Also the readings will lower using Celsius. At the same time, for weight, US is going to use metric ton. So that each will have many zeros making them feel not so heavy than before.

GREAT NATION! GREAT IDEAS FOR FUTURE!

It is China's reaction to foreign criticism, that shows desperation. Like in this case in response to human rights issues bringing up topics that are irrelevant to human rights, and stating that USA fails in human rights because it has these flaws.

Correct analysis would be that of looking at USA and noticing their flaws with crime etc, and concluding that China does not need or want human rights. It wants peace and stability through police state that prevents such crime.

If Chinese want that, fine, but it's a mistake to interpret that what you then have is human rights.

It shows desperation that China cannot accept this for what it is.

Having peace and stability should be no brainer if human rights are left out of the equation. Western failures largely arise from choosing to not leave that part out. They aim higher.

Many developing countries and societies that copy the western model are still languishing in poverty and still unable to progress economically. What is the point of having all the rights and yet die of hunger?

Since you brought up famine as a matter related to human rights, by many estimations (including Chinese) in the Great Chinese Famine of 1959-60, 30% of the human casualties were caused by natural disaster and 70% by bad government policies and management.

This is still part of the Chinese model that is looked at in both west and in developing countries. China has changed a lot after 80s, so that may not always be fair.

But if China didn't have to bury these and more recent mistakes by censorship and human right violations, much of the current reasons for China to violate so-called human rights would not exist. It has been a snowball effect really. Fixing one mistake with another.

This is also well recognized abroad. China has to implement tight state control, because it has not made peace with the past same way most other countries have, or are trying to.

Many developing countries are torn with civil-war and ethnic tensions, and if they look at China for a model, they will look on both sides of Taiwan strait. Almost 70 years on, and still unfinished business. Great model there.
