Mordern warfare does not rely on sending armed forces abroad.
Unmanned flying crafts armed with weapons of massive destruction could cross vast physical distance to complete their objectives.
Ageing population is not a problem!
Further, Japan is trying to control Asia financially!

Just look at Formosa.

Just look at Hawaii.

Why do you call it "Formosa"?

It was the epitome of cruelty and rapacity in world history.

In that winter season exactly seven decades ago, the residents of Nanjing suffered through rapacious barbarism that stood unchallenged to this day amongst annals of human cruelty.

Today we know that at least 300,000 souls perished in the most horrendous way possible -- more than a hundred different ways were devised by the Japanese troops to kill the inhabitants of China's capital at the time.

The enormity of the genocidal crime was not reflected in the numbers alone, for 300,000 merely represented less than one percent of the total number of lives lost in the war-torn country, but in the way each murder was carried out.

Yes, the Nazis had gassed and shot their enemies, especially the Russians and the Jews whom they had stigmatized as the nemesis of Christianity through their stranglehold on the financial centers of Europe.  But they did not remotely match the Japanese in terms of sadistic cruelty to their victims when they entered Paris.

When Genghis Khan sacked the Sultanate city of Samarkand (now in Uzbekistan) in 1220 -- exactly 720 years before the Nazis entered Paris -- he never dreamed that another 720 years (717 to be exact) later some islanders to the east of Cathay would outdo him in terms of scale and cruelty.

Nor did Attila the Hun when he attacked the Byzantine Romans circa 450 A.D. -- 770 years prior to Genghis' sacking of Samarkand.

In short, Nanjing was a historical paradox in which inheritors of the longest-survivng civilization steeped in profoundly humanitarian philosophies was ravaged by modern-day barbarians dressed in modern attire using modern weapons cloaked in modern theories of Social Darwinism that outdid the barbarians in all manifestations of antediluvian barbarism.

America has its Veterans Day.

Japan has its day of mourning for the atom-bomb dead.

I use the word "dead" and not "victims" here for the latter word connotes a moral lapse on the part of the Allies for their massive response, although there is much controversy over the fact that German cities like Dresden weren't treated the same way by the Allies.

That the Americans hardly ever prioritized the feelings of non-Japanese East Asians could be seen from the fact that the Japanese commemoration of their war dead was allowed to take place, while a similar German petition for the remembrance for the Allied bombing of Dresden (which also led to heavy civilian casualties) never saw the light of day.

re: " the Japanese commemoration of their war dead was allowed to take place, "

The guilt that uncle Sam  detonated two nuclear weapons over the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki on August 6 and 9 make them forgive anything.  Some 200000 Japanese got wiped out with that test...

Why do you call it "Formosa"?

Actually I shouldn't do so because as far as the Middle Kingdom is concerned Taiwan was always named Taiwan.
The Republic of Formosa had lasted only five months, most of which had been spent at war with the Japanese...
