Tiny Theo Taylor weighed the same as a can of Coke when he was born.

Now six months old and at home with his parents Katie Rhodes, 24, and Jay Taylor, 27, he is believed to be the smallest baby to survive in the UK.

Theo stopped growing in the womb and was so small doctors even offered Miss Rhodes a termination the day before he was born.

But the little fighter defied the odds to pull through despite weighing just 350g (12oz).

Theo was born early at 26 weeks and five days and Miss Rhodes, a support worker from Durham says he's a little fighter.

She added: "Before he was born, it was really hard hearing all the time that he wasn't going to make it, and even when he was born that we might not get to take him home.

"But we got through it by saying, 'no, he's made it this far, lets just support him'.

"We were so positive and kept saying that we would fight for him."

Mr Taylor added: "I had never ever seen a baby that small - I didn't know babies could be that small.

"I kept saying to Katie that everything would be ok and he would be fine, but it wasn't until I saw him that I realised how serious things were.

"I think that was the most scared I have ever been, but it was also a relief to see him.

Miss Rhodes' pregnancy was normal until the 19-week scan revealed Theo was smaller than expected.

Delivery driver Mr Taylor and Miss Rhodes discovered he'd stopped growing and were told to expect the worse and prepare for a demise at almost every scan or meeting.

The mum-to-be was admitted to hospital with pre-eclampsia and three days later doctors performed an emergency c-section when tests showed Theo had fluid around his heart
