Apple Newton, 1993

The Newton was a personal digital assistant developed by Apple. It was the first device to feature handwriting recognition. At first sight, the device was innovative but was later discontinued because of the problems with handwriting recognition feature and high price.

Unilever, a company that used to make only soap and household cleaning goods started to make frozen dinners and ice cream under the names they acquired. They were smart enough to put the Unilever name in very fine print somewhere on the package. Actually they were the same as they were before they acquired the new companies and if you could ignore
the discovery that they were now under the umbrella of Unilever.. well you could enjoy them. I guess it would be the same as if the makers of the bug spray RAID bought a aerosol whipped cream company. They wouldn't want to advertise that it was from the same company that make RAID buy spray.
If capitalism promotes innovation and creativity then why aren't scientists and artists the richest people in a capitalist nation?
