- Much thanks to USA, the West and its gospel of preaching, and defending the old goat Capitalism by all means and at all costs, with 4400 nuclear arsenals & 800 military bases world wide among others; today, the world's wealthiest 42 people in 2017 had wealth equivalent to the world's poorest 3.7 billion people. The world's richest 1% own more wealth than the rest of the global population combined. 82% of the global wealth generated last year went to just 1% of the world's population. The three richest Americans have the same amount of wealth as the poorest half of the U.S. population [source: '3 richest own as much wealth as half of U.S.' article, USA TODAY, Monday, January 22, 2018] Capitalist Western countries prioritize on behalf of the interest of Wealthy first and foremost, while People's Republic nations prioritize on behalf of the interest of people first. North Korea is a People's Democratic Republic that works for world society as a whole, while war-mongering U.S. is living out waning days in twilight zone with ever growing mountain of debts, mighty deficits, costly wars, widening gap between the richest ten percent and the rest, disharmony between the rich & the poor.
These are common fun facts. Despite liberalism (representative democracy, etc..) the disparity of wealth is actually increasing worldwide. Unfortunately, there isn't an alternative. If you evenly distributed the wealth everyone will be poor. However, despite this disparity, the standard of living is much higher today than it was 20, 50 100 years ago. I know people would like to think otherwise, but that is the facts.
Without capital (investments) there aren't any advancements. ALL innovative companies come from the west and ALL of them benefit from investments. Remove the wealth and you remove the capital.
There isn't a capitalist country. All countries employs to some degreee social democracy or welfarism. Some more than others. That being said, most countries that have a freer market are more financially sable than countries that attempt to "manage" the economy. Venezuela is a popular example of mismanagement. Anyway, most countries are better described as cronyism. In other words, it is manipulated by large corporations. This is really nothing new. Governments are not the allies of democracy or the people, but corporations. This is true in China as well, however it is the government that acts out of its own self-interest resulting in the same principle. Ironically, and what makes this post I quoted laughable is that China's growth in the 90s as been a direct result of freeing the market in China.
In short, if you want progress and a higher standard of living, your only alternative is a disparity of wealth. The sooner that people realize this, then the sooner we stop des
