Recently, a Chinese mother said on weibo that she is outraged by a controversial sex educational textbook available to primary school, and she doubted if the school was distributing a fakebook. She said the book has gone too much by exposing genital area.
Another parent said he wished the sex education books would be more euphemistic and tactful, for example, using cartoon images like some of the American textbooks. He also said that it would be a good course and he would not go against such a textbook if teachers could guide students to read, and if parents are also reminded to guide their kids.
Publisher of the controversial textbook , the Beijing Normal University Publishing House, responded that such frenzy from public has arose before over the textbook. However, This book is not an ordinary publication for kids but textbook that went through strict review process.
Some experts said that most students would be curious about where they are from. If there is no right guidance, students might turn to porn website and publications for an answer, which will be misleading.
