Making a living by playing game was somehow not a decent work in China. But things here changed. Electronic sports now becomes a emerging industry with dramatic potential, eSports players, commentators and hosts are highly active on the internet.
But admittedly most people still think that a good student with higher education diploma would not choose such a job. Jobs with games are jobs for the backward students and the idlers. But this girl hosting a eSports game live on the internet is here to challenge these kind of stereotypes.
With a screen name of 女流, this female live show host has possessed over 1,090,000 followers on an online platform, and also has a blog with over 900,000 fans. But who would konw that she used to be the top scorer of Neimenggu college entrance examination in 2006. And what's more, this young lady has also recieved a bachelor's degree from Tsinghua University and a master's degree from Peking Univercity.
Her real name is Wangyue, majored in archetecture in college. She likes playing games and one day when she's in her third year of college, an idea hit her: why not record I playing the game and share it with others? She thought that the progress of game playing has so much fun, it would be a shame to not sharing it with those who interested. So she began her game-host life with a borrowed microphone and a ten-yuan earplug. Back then, she produced 2 or 3 videos per week while continued to play the games. About half a year later, she's famous. Netizens are attracted by her humor and skills, she soon became a phenomenon.
No life will always be plain sailing. She too have gone through difficulties. Many people disapprove her, and she recieved many verbal attacks as well. But she could tolerate all of it and keep doing what she want to do. She also confused at the crossroad of her life. However she could have became a senior architect, but at the end of the day, she followed her heart and made this big decision to became a game host.
People divides sharply on this issue. Some argue that it is a waste for talent. They believe She could have done much more contribution to our country by choosing the way of an architect. Yet others are on her side, claiming that one should be free to do what they like. And it is totally cool for an architecture student ends up as a online game host, as long as that's what she want.
Which team are you in? And what do you think about making a living by playing games?
