"According Yang's statement on the website of the defense ministry, on the afternoon of December 15, a Chinese naval lifeboat located an unidentified device in the waters of the South China Sea. In order to prevent the device from causing harm to the safety of navigation and personnel of passing vessels, the Chinese naval lifeboat verified and examined the device in a professional and responsible manner."
Not even a good lie. First of all, What was the Chinese naval vessel doing inside the Philippine's EEZ? Second, how does a "lifeboat" come across an object 90 miles out in the ocean. What was the lifeboat doing there? I find it very "convenient" that the Chinese naval vessel just happened to be 500 metres from the USN research vessel.
@1626548377: There is no secret technology on this drone, that you people could steal. It belongs to a research agency operating on a shoestring budget, therefore all components are off-the-shelf and easily purchased with limited funds. Most of the components were probably made in China in the first place, so I'm actually surprised the thing even worked.
Imagine China and other countries use similar drone 50km from US territory, then the world trouble maker will yell with gun shots around the globe. Don't do unto others what you do not want others to do unto you!
