Would I pack instant noodles when traveling abroad?  No.  Part of the traveling experience as a tourist is trying the local cuisine... and besides, many large cities have a variety of restaurants that offer many different types of international cuisines.  As a tourist, you should help support the local economy that serves you... whether eating at a restaurant or shopping at a local market.

Eggsquese me, if you choose to eat instant noodles you are exercising your personal right in doi ...

shunning the local restaurant is illegal ? Chinese have rights to choose what to eat abroad and I'm not saying they should be completely away from the local restaurants .. you forget about eating habits or some Chinese just here for view and not for the local food ..
And you mentioned Chinese walking around while eating is uncivilised , I think you take it too seriously ,I see some foreign guys in China and eat with their bare hands in public .. you think it's not an insult but also uncivilised ?  It's about people's eating habits and you saw it from pictures and it means not every Chinese did this ..
Next time when you talk about a whole group I hope you are being professional .. Individual's action do not always mean the whole group's action ..

Street food is the norm in China, but not in some countries,so you can hardly criticise tourists in China from doing things local people do.
I would imagine that few visitors to China would pack the equivalent of noodles in their luggage as eating local food is part of the adventure.

I think Chinese tourists are just demonstrating their fears by not eating local food.
