You will be surprised when hearing thattuition and fees was returned to students in the middle schools in Futiandistrict of Shenzhen. In Shenzhen there are 10 districts. Only Futian districtimplements this policy. For a student of middle school of provincial grade, thetuition and fees for a semester in total is 1131 yuan. This policy has been carriedout since 2015.

The purpose to implement this policy is to let more students enjoy freeeducation for senior students given by the government and have every family’sburden reduce. Every family supports this policy, especially the students, because the cash of 1131 yuan will be directly remitted through banks tostudents’ accounts not their parents’. After getting the money, students willspend it themselves, some of whom do not tell their parents about it. You cansee students talking about how they spend the money. Some of them will go toplay computer games first. Some of them will go shopping. I don’t know how manyof them will hand it to their parents.

Frankly, it becomes something like a prize given to students. I amworried about it. It will change the value of a student. The money will go totheir accounts each term without reasons, but they get it. What’s more, some ofthem do not tell their parents about it and spend it randomly, which will helpstudents form a bad habit of spending money.

We always advocate a saying “No pain, no gain”. It is a typical event thatdoesn’t agree with the saying. When kids get money this way, what directionwill it take kids to? Do not let a good thing become a bad thing.

What do you think about it?

Please remember that the average housing price of Futian district is more than 50,000RMB per square meter! Do you think those who living there are lack of money? 1131RMB is just pocket money they give to their children monthly, so the news means nothing actually!

It is not a problem of how much money it is. It is a way to tell our kids about how to use the money. As a consumer, a student should learn to save money and learn to spend money in a right way.
