Trust your feelings. It's more important than what other people say. Foreigners based their opinion on a different culture.

Once upon a time I remember I thought that too, but I can't remember the reason for it anymore, so today I have no opinion because I don't live there.

I would judge a country based on the happiness I see when I visit.

A very interesting topic, I am curious what some of the Chinese reply.

I do however feel oppressed here, very oppressed. At the same time, I felt oppressed in Britain though...so doesn't seem to matter where I am.
You know that every time I try to go
Where I really want to be
It's already where I am
'Cause I'm already there

Remember Johnnie Chung and Charlie Trei? Frontmen for the ChiComs....Bhuddist Temple fundraiser from priests that had taken vows of poverty.. Riiiiiiiiiight.............
Thats a perfect example of a Chinaman that doesnt feel oppressed.

Ai Weiwei has said in no uncertain terms that he was being oppressed while in China, as have others. ...

Maybe if he wouldn't take pictures of himself hopping about in diapers people might listen to him..... naw

He's just a petty pop artist trying to stay relevant so he can make more money off his crappy art.
If capitalism promotes innovation and creativity then why aren't scientists and artists the richest people in a capitalist nation?

I have never felt oppressed while in China.
I have felt oppressed in the USA where I live. Absolutely every word I type on the internet is monitored.
Absolutely every word I speak on the telephone is monitored.
If I do not comply with what is expected of an American worker I will become homeless.
