Abe is going to visit Russia on May 6th.One of his purposes to meet Putin is talking something about the issue of “NorthernFour islands”. Since the Second World War, four islands including the Etorofu, Kunashiri,Shikotan, and Habomai northern to Japan have been occupied by Russia. Besides, Kurile Islands, a Russian island close to thenorthern four islands, has already been militarized by Russia in order to guardthe northern four islands.
It seems that any appeal is in vain for Japan. Does Russia have enough legalprinciples to support its occupation? If a country can randomly occupy any othercountry, what the world would be like?
We see that lots of problems about territory would be focused onlike South China Sea, but there is less arguing about the four northern islandsamong the international community. I’m curious about it.
What is your opinion?
