The Trump phenomenon is a complex one. To simplify it: 1. Some clever Republicans figured out a way to produce a large bloc of WHITE voters who would stop the Democrats from taxing the rich people who control their party. 2. They found that by telling a low-income WHITE that they would keep the BLACKS down for him if he voted to keep rich taxes down. They also threw in suggestions that he MIGHT get rich and that they were CHRISTIANS. 3. This WORKED. These low-income voters prevented both Clinton and Obama from taxing the rich properly. But now came the big problem. 4. The whole idea of poor whites protecting rich whites from taxes was so ridiculous (for the poor whites) that, only the STUPIDEST poor whites bought it (but there were just ENOUGH of them!). Along came TRUMP who has easily FOOLED these stupid people to support him. Now the ORIGINAL Republican rich guys have LOST CONTROL over their stupid whites - and now the Democrats will BEAT them (and tax the rich guys) HOORAY! This shows that EVENTUALLY democracy CAN work!

I think this anger is less wide-spread than the media suggest. Trump's bad example simply makes the anger of under-performing Americans more obvious. Wait until the presidential election is over and see the result.
