Agreed!  Many young Chinese couples are forced to have children by their parents who want to raise grandchildren when they have retired and have nothing to do. This is very unhealthy for the couples when they are not prepared to have kids while still struggling to make a living, like saving up to buy that dream home!

It sure is strange how some things change when you slip that wedding ring on.

Miss Right often turns out to be Mrs Wrong!

More likely Mrs Wong. And if two wrongs got married then they couldn't make a right anyway.

Do you think that happens often enough for you to tell the Chinese not to have children? We know ...

'And children they want, not for altruistic reasons but because it is their retirement insurance.'

That's where you and they are all wrong!  Children are not good retirement insurance; that's a fact.  Haven't you seen CCTV news and heard stories elsewhere, where children throw out their old folks, or quarrel endlessly with them over the bedrooms in their small homes that they want for their grown up kids wanting to get married, forcing the old folks to stay somewhere not appropriate for them?  CCTV is a good source of real life China social and family stories; you might do yourself a favour by watching CCTV!
And, if children are a sure retirement insurance, why does China have a law requiring children to visit their aged parents at least once a year or face penalties? Obviously the authorities have found out that grown up children don't even visit their aged parents, not to mention look after and feed them!!
It is stupid of Chinese parents to rely on their children in old age; they give away their meagre retirement savings to their sons to help them get a wife.  Chinese girls demand 'house and car' for marriage, so parents help their sons buy that house and car, and later, with no money to feed themselves, have to rely on their children, who often ignore them, and some even throw them out of their homes!  Source: CCTV and many other local TVs.
Yeah, stop promoting children as retirement insurance to the Chinese; you are not doing them any favor!

Haha, so true!
So two wongs should never get married, because two wongs don't make a right!

'Do you think that happens often enough for you to tell the Chinese not to have children? We know you hate kids, but you should not prescribe the Chinese to have none!'

Where did I say not to have children?  I merely said, not to have children for the wrong reasons! Go ahead if you like kids( and the law has just been amended to permit two, not one), but don't be forced to have them just because the parents want grandchildren, nor should the couples be under the misguided notion that children will look after them in old age; if they did, that's just a stroke of luck, it is not a given that Chinese children to look after their old folks; there are countless instances of that in the media!
Just for the record, I never hate kids; I only hate the nasty, little emperors who can't behave themselves in public due to poor family upbringing, the result of the one-child policy with parents indulging their little emperors instead of teaching them right from wrong; and those who scream like hell on flights when travellers onboard need some rest and sleep!
