China is the third most visited country in the world and a major tourist destination for world travelers. Besides numerous tourist spots on the ground, China has many beautiful underground attractions. Below is the top 10 fantastic caves in China worth visiting.
1. Zhijin Cave (织金洞)

Zhijin Cave is a karst cave located in Minzhai Village, Zhijin County, Guizhou Province. The cave extends for some 13.5 kilometres (8.4 mi) over a total area of 7 square kilometres and is believed to possess the largest unsupported roof span of any cave worldwide. More than 120 different crystalline formations are found in the cave’s interior along with stalactites and the “Silver Rain Tree”, a 17 metres (56 ft) tall rare flower-like transparent crystal.

2. Yellow Dragon Cave (黄龙洞)


Yellow Dragon Cave is the most famous scenery in Wulingyuan Scenic Area, it has been regarded as “the marvelous spectacle of the karst cave in the world”, “No. 1 Karst Cave”, and “the most beautiful cave” in the world. The total area of the cave is 100,000 square meters. The geologists from home and abroad all think that Yellow Dragon Cave includes all the characteristics of a karst cave. There are splendid stalactites, stalagmites, hills, and rivers in the cave.

3. Tenglong Cave (腾龙洞)


Tenglong Cave is located 6.8 kilometres from Lichuan City, Hubei. It is believed to be the longest monomer karst cave system in the world. The cave entrance is 74 metres and 64 metres wide, leading to 59.8 kilometres of passageways. An underground network of streams runs for 16.8 kilometres whilst the cave is the source of the Qingjiang River.

4. Xueyu Cave (雪玉洞)


Located about eight miles from Fengdu, Chongqing, Xueyu Cave is ranked as “One of Top Six Most Beautiful Snow Caves in China” by China National Geography Magazine. The Xueyu Cave is a water-eroded cave. Over 80 percent of the stalactites in the cave are “as white and snow, and as pure as jade”, hence the name Xueyu. Xueyu Cave is 1,644 meters in length with 1,166 meters opened to visitors. The stalactites in the cave are as white as snow and keep growing at about 33 millimeter every 100 years.

5. Benxi Water Cave(本溪水洞)


Located 26 kilometers east to Benxi City, Benxi Water Cave is a large-scale underground river karst caves that formed millions of years ago. It is the longest underground river in the world that can be visited by boat which covered an area of 36,000 square meters.

6. Furong Cave (芙蓉洞)



Furong Cave is located in Wulong county, Chongqing.Furong Cave is the only cave in China that was listed in ‘World Natural Heritage List‘. Furong Cave, together with Mammoth Cave in the US, and Graemes Cave in France, was named one of “The Three Greatest Caves in the World”.  Furong Cave is about 2,700 meters long. There are 100 species of sediment varying from carbonate to sulphur and over 300 scenic spots in the cave.

7. Kongshan Baiyun Cave (崆山白云洞)



The Kongshan Baiyun Cave is about 50 kilometers away from Xingtai City. With 4,000 square meters inside, there are five interconnected halls and over two hundred scenes. Most strikingly, there are some scenes, which can hardly be found elsewhere in China.
