A report by International Comparison Program shows that China’s economy could replace the American economy as the world’s top economy by the end of 2014 (in terms of purchasing power parity). Although economists and commentators have long anticipated that China someday will surpass the U.S. as the top economy, this new finding has still generated lots of headlines and debates.

PPP GDP is irrelevant. The biggest economic region by GDP is European Union 18,5 trillion USD, second USA 17,5 trillion USD and China is distant third 10,3 trillion USA. China is even further if we look at GDP per capita. It takes seven Chinese to create same amount of value as one Finn.
