I have what I would assume to be the normal type of dreams where weird and/or wonderful things happen. However, I have, on occasion, had another type of dream that I have learnt to recognise as foretelling something that will actually occur at some time later in my life. I have had this type of dream a number of times and they always happen exactly as I have dreamt.

A few examples:
1 I always knew that I would have a son because of a dream that I had as a teenager. The event in that dream happened about twenty years afterwards.
2 While visiting Zhuhai in 2005, I had prophetic dreams on three successive nights, each one showing an event that would take place before and after I was elected to local government.  I tested those dreams by campaigning for a few days only yet won the seat with a higher vote than anyone had thought possible. The three dreams happened, again, exactly as foreseen.

These are but two examples of the many prophetic dreams that I have had. This phenomenon puzzles me greatly and has done for a long time. If time is linear, how can I (and many others, I'm sure) see things now that will happen later? Sometimes, a dream will become reality after but a few months while other ones may not happen for a year, two years or longer. How can this be?

I would dare to suggest that we all have this ability, to see events in dreams which will happen at some time later. Might not this be the reason why people experience deja vu?
