Thank every member who answered readers' questions last time. Chinese English learners from Wechat are very happy to recieve your replies. Here are more questions from them:

Q1: What are the differences of protocol, treaty, deal and agreement? And under what circumstances should they be used respectively?

Q2:  Could you tell me when to use a hyphen (-) in English and give some examples?

Q3: What do Victorian houses look like? I've seen the term "Victorian style" used in clothing, architecture and writing, so what exactly is "Victorian style"?

Q4: I've been watching situation comedy "Friends" lately. I notice that Ross Geller occasionally does a fist thing: making a fist with both hands and banging them together (palm edge to palm edge). What dose this gesture mean? Could you introduce some commonly used hand gestures in the US?

Q5: Why do American people eat turkey on Thanksgiving and Christmas? Are there any stories behind the tradition? Is turkey meant for holidays and feasts only in American culture?

Q6: What are the differences of the following closing lines of letters and emails: Cheers, Sincerely, Regards, Best Wishes, Love and Yours Faithfully? How to use them properly?

Q6: What are the differences of the following closing lines of letters and emails: Cheers, Sincerely, Regards, Best Wishes, Love and Yours Faithfully? How to use them properly?

#1 Cheers: (very informal)= goodbye

#2 Regards: (between informal and formal) = you extend your respect to the person  whom you have known, i.e. business partners, your supervisor, teachers...

#3 Best wishes: (informal) you extend your best wishes to those people

#4 Love: (informal) you extend your love to the people you love, i.e. your husband/wife/boyfriend/girlfriend, your own kids, parents, and bossom friends or best friends.

#5 Sincerely (formal) You can use it for anyone, but usually whom you are not close to, in a formal letter. Please note their names should be specified i.e. Dear Mr /Ms Smith  instead of Dear Sir or Madam

# 6 Faithfully (formal) for the people you address with "Dear Sir or Madam" in a formal letter...i.e. you want to apply for a job, but you don't know the names of the people you write to...

For sincerely and faithfully, Americans don't give two hoots about it, but Brits still care to distinguish...

NB: I am not an English expert..
