Some animal defenders poisen the rihino horns to combat rhino poaching. The injection doesn't cause any harm to the animals, but anyone who eats the horn once it's ground into powder will get "seriously ill."
How do you comment on the initiative?

go to rhinotown, colombia and ask 8pablo escobar for all the rhinos you want (he has more rhinos than afrika natural habitat)

I'm all in favour of anything that will thwart the illegal trade in endangered species.  I cannot understand why we don't farm the animals for their horn which while difficult to do is not impossible given current advances in technology.

The money obtained from the sale of bred horn and the price reduction per kilogram would effectively end poaching.  It's a long term view and would take some years to impliment.

In the meantime poachers or those on game reserves without proper authority should be executed on sight which is  what happens in quite a few African countries with poaching issues.   I'd like to see the authorities in particular park rangers and management equipped with state of the art tracking and monitoring equipment as well as far better ordinance for fighting the poachers as the rangers are frequently out gunned in the all too frequent shootouts that occur.
